We will go up to Colfax on the North or East bound side roads, stop at a nice coffee shop at the far East end of Main Street, and return on the other side roads. Any wild riders who want to CLIMB can extend on Iowa Hill Rd on the left after leaving Colfax. This is about 6 miles up and down into the Am River Canyon twice, and extreme!

We’ll take Amtrak to San Jose and ride over the Santa Cruz mountains to Sunset Beach State Park. We then ride through Monterey to Big Sur Park, then Plaskett Creek, and finally Morro Bay State Campground. Friday we ride to San Luis Obispo to catch Amtrak for Sacramento. It is suggested that you make reservations for the return trip from San Luis Obispo; bikes must be checked as luggage. Dick Siple will provide baggage transportation from the Amtrak Station in San Jose.

Come on out and enjoy the cream of the crop roads in the Amador – El Dorado foothills. The ride covers the Shenandoah area, thru Fiddletown and out to Slug Gulch, (or bail out on Perry Creek, if you choose), the rest of the climbs are moderate. The shorter ride skips Ostrom and Slug Gulch, and both medium and long routes have possibilities to shorten. Stores and water on route.

Choose a ride from 5 related easy, flat routes with very little traffic, heading West along the American River Parkway Bike Trail to the Davis In-N-Out Burger, and return. Or, choose a ride from 6 related Sierra Foothills routes heading East. One route has 6,250 foot climb, 4 routes circumnavigate Folsom Lake counter clockwise, 2 circumvent the canyon, 5 go to the Auburn In-N-Out Burger, and all return.
