KICK-OFF/SHOW-OFF
11:30 AM
Sacramento
St. Rose of Lima Park
7th & K Streets

Join me with SABA director Walt Seifert and Ed Cox with the city of Sacramento acting as our docent on this ride that will give us a peek into the future of cycling byways in our region. The short ride will go to the new Two Rivers Trail on the south side of the American River. You’ll discover new river views and hear about the trail, trail extensions and planned development. The ride will end in historic Old Sacramento. The long ride will peel off from the short ride at the Jibboom Street bridge and head back east on the American River Parkway Bide Trail. We’ll explore the new trail in the Ueda Parkway and head for the far northern reaches of the city along Steelhead Creek where ducks, heron, and other wildlife find a home. Learn about the future bikeway plans for the Ueda and Dry Creek Parkways at various stops on the route.

WINE COUNTRY CENTURY
6:30 AM
Santa Rosa
Wells Fargo Center
50 West Mark Springs Rd.

Sonoma County is famous for its scenic back road cycling, and this Century shows you why. In addition to visiting many of the region’s premier vineyards, the route winds through redwoods, apple orchards, and shady broadleaf forests. It meanders across meadows sprinkled with wildflowers and climbs over hillsides dotted with eucalyptus, bay, and oak. The 200K route even visits the magnificent, rugged Sonoma coast. Depending on your route, you’ll cross the beautiful Russian River as many a six times. Again, depending on your route, you might pass through as many as seven different vineyard appellations: Russian River Valley, Green Valley, Sonoma Coast, Northern Sonoma, Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and Chalk Hill. Preregistration required. Members must sign in and out on the Wheelmen Ride Roster, wear the Wheelmen Jersey on the ride, register for the ride with the host club (www.active.com), and pay the entry fee.
