How do you make a good thing better?
You don't, you just sit back and enjoy.
Sierra Century 2010 was a great event
once again. Thank you so much to you and all those who
volunteered countless hours to put on this event. I know you
guys are always looking for feedback so I thought I would take a
minute to give some.
Weather - awesome, you guys really
pulled off a good one this time around.
Route - Was the same as last year, but
why fix it if it's not broken. I think this is a nice challenge
for those that are new the Centuries and those that are used to
them. While some of these roads are off the beaten path, the
traffic is light enough that it's not a hazard.
Markings - who ever marked the route
should be given a raise. Very well done. While it helps
that I rode this last year I don't remember every turn. I
didn't have to look at the map once, that's a good sign that it's
marked out well. Two arrows before the turn, and two arrows
after the turn.
Rest Stops - plenty of restrooms at all
locations, I don't think I saw a line anywhere. All Rest Stops had
plenty to choose from, plenty of water and drinks. Nice variety
of drinks as well, not just one. Where do you guys get your
produce? It was the best, strawberries, oranges, honey dew,
cantelope, I had them all, good stuff!
Sag - It was out there, I saw them at
least 5 or 6 times, some events you might see them once. I
liked the signs reminding people to ride single file.
After ride meal - the only compaint I
have is the music. When I get back from the ride it's nice to
sit down and enjoy the meal, hard to do that with music blarring.
It was hard to hear anyone as we sat talking. The meal was
actually nice, nothing fancy, but sometimes it doesn't need to be, it
was good and hot, no complaints. Plenty of cold drinks as well,
very cold, much appreciated.
Volunteers - They're everywhere!
It's amazing how many volunteers you have at this event.
Without them it wouldn't be possible. Friday evening checking
was fast and easy. Saturday at each of the rest stops you have
plenty of people setting up, welcoming you in, showing where to park,
what to do, and standing at the ready with the map to help you find
your next hill. A big thank you to them.
As I've said before I ride many
different events, after each event I ride I always compare it
back to Sierra Century, why? Because Sierra Century is the
best. It's not just one thing that stands out about the Sierra
Century, it's a whole bunch of little things that add up to the total
experience. Simply the best.
Hope that helps in your planning
efforts for next year. Thank you again!

Thanks Wheelmen! Nice job on the
weather, the route, the course markings, the flag men (and
women), and the very friendly atmosphere. Your club does an
outstanding job in putting this event together. No complaints on the
give-aways either!

Hi Curt and Jenny:
Your ride was great. I have
done the Sierra Century many times including last year and this was
as good as any of them.
Your Club always does a great job on
this ride and I will do it again.
Thanks Jerry Lucas
Hello Sac Wheelmen,
I just wanted to say thank you for a
great ride on Saturday. My husband and I rode the full
century. We have ridden the 100k years ago out of Plymouth.
This was our first time out of Placer Co. As usual, you all did
a fantastic job with everything. The support, food and the
course aid were top notch.
I had a mechanical issue 13 miles into
the ride and had to SAG into the first aid station. I was lucky
to find full service mechanics available, they fixed my issue which
allowed me to continue with my group.. riding a single speed for the
remainder of the ride! It was a great day.
Thanks again for putting on a first
class ride!
Cheers, Donnie F.
